Conference to focus on Darfur situation

Some of North America’s most notable scholars will gather in London, Ont., at the end of the month to inform the public about the genocide in Darfur.

The University of Western Ontario will host the weekend-long conference from Oct. 28 to 30 in hopes that those who learn about the issue will become active in raising awareness.

The genocide scholars who are scheduled to lecture include Dr. Gerald Caplan, a leading Canadian authority on genocide and genocide prevention, and an internationally recognized expert on the Rwandan Genocide.

Also speaking at the conference is Dr. Norman Epstein,who is the co-founder of Canadians Against Slavery and Torture in Sudan.

The conference was organized by the Holocaust Literature Research Institute as well as scholarly centres, student groups, and community and not-for-profit organizations.
